The 11 coastal casinos won US$ 87.3 million, up 7 percent from January 2014. The 17 river casinos won US$ 77.7 million, down less than 1 percent from last year.
It's only the fifth time in the last 31 months that Mississippi's casinos have won more from gamblers over the previous year. However, there are signs that an improving Gulf Coast performance is taking root. Revenues have risen 2.1 percent there over the last 12 months.
These numbers exclude Choctaw Indian casinos, which don't report winnings to the state.
