(Australia).- Packer wants to build the world’s most expensive hotel. The six-star Barangaroo Sydney hotel will cost USD 4.5 M per room. According to Packer, some may find the idea “moronic.”

Packer’s business partner Laurence Ho has teamed with the fourth richest person in Australia to build the U$1 billion City of Dreams and Melco Crown in Manila. Ho said that he had been friends with Packer for 10 years. He referred to the fathers of the duo, the late Kerry Packer and Macau casino kingpin Stanley Ho. Packer's partner is apparently impressed by Packer’s ability use his contacts in the show business to build a buzz around their casinos. Ho said that Packer and Hollywood did “gel together.”

According to Packer, his business adds a lot to the cities it deals in. His promise is to build hotels which are “as good as anything in the world.” “If we can participate in Crown being central to the most vibrant precincts in the cities we work in, let alone the 15,000 jobs we provide in Australia, as Employer of the Year twice in four years, the tax we pay and the tourism we bring in, then I can be very proud of that,” Herald Sun quotes Packer.
