(UK).- The QX-50 is Quixant’s latest high end PC-based gaming platform designed specifically to drive pay-to-play gaming machines.

Combining exceptional performance and high resolution 4K multi-display graphics capabilities with low power consumption and advanced optimized gaming I/O and non-volatile memory the QX-50 represents a significant step forward in the computer technology available to drive the next generation of machines.

The QX-50 brings the world of 4K Ultra HD display technology to the gaming industry.  4K offers four times the display resolution of full HD screens and enables game developers to present more vivid, detailed graphics to give players a richer experience.  The flexible design enables the AMD RadeonTM HD 9000 Series integrated graphics to be supplemented with an AMD RadeonTM E8860 Discrete GPU.  4K display technology is rapidly gaining traction in the consumer space and development of a gaming platform capable of driving 4K displays for gaming machines is a significant milestone.  The use of DisplayPort 1.2 enables high resolution, multiple screens to be driven over the same DisplayPort cable, reducing cabinet cabling complexity.

The QX-50 is available in Dual Core or Quad Core processor configurations clocked at up to 2.7GHz (3.6GHz with boost) and supports up to 16GBytes of high performance DDR3-2133 main memory.

The QX-50 also showcases AMD’s groundbreaking Mantle graphics API which enables game developers to more efficiently access the hardware processing resources available, boosting performance, combined with the ability to create games which are mobile across different hardware platforms.

Quixant’s proprietary advanced PCI Express® based gaming I/O and non-volatile SRAM/MRAM bring all the features which are required to drive regulatory compliant gaming machines in all major gaming jurisdictions.  Quixant’s latest gaming technology remains backward compatible with software written for previous generations of Quixant gaming controllers, accelerating development time for Quixant customers.  Use of the ultra fast PCI Express®bus provides a significant increase in available bandwidth for accessing gaming I/O and SRAM/MRAM, enabling improved connectivity and throughput with peripheral components such as ticket printers, bill acceptors, coin hoppers, lamps and button boards.  Quixant’s comprehensive range of drivers, libraries and protocols allows software developers to easily harness the extensive functionality of the QX-50 hardware platform.

The QX-50 is designed to operate from the main cabinet 12V PSU, eliminating the extra expense and reliability issues normally associated with the multi-voltage “ATX style” PSUs normally required for PC-based gaming platforms.

In keeping with Quixant’s philosophy across its full product range, full software support including drivers, API and example code is included for both Windows Embedded (32-bit or 64-bit) and Linux, including support for gaming protocols such as SAS 6.02.

The long-term availability of its platforms is another essential factor which Quixant embeds at the heart of its design process, and a 10 year supply lifetime is guaranteed from launch of the QX-50 in May 2014.
