(US).- Starting last Friday, Mohegan Sun now partners with the short-distance aviation company Blade, to provide direct flights to the casino via helicopter. The 112-mile trip from the city will take approximately 45 minutes from the Blade Terminal at the East 34th Street heliport in mid-town Manhattan.

On weekends, flights depart from the facility on West 30th Street.

"Mohegan Sun is a spectacular property offering epic experiences that should include accessible and efficient transportation via Blade," said Bobby Soper, president and CEO of Mohegan Sun, in a statement. "We are incredibly excited to offer our guests a door-to-door crowdsourcing option that meets today's need for transportation on demand in the most sophisticated way possible."

The Blade smartphone app gives people the option to launch a crowdsourced flight or to grab a single seat at any time. One-way rides start around US$ 625, according to Blade. And for frequent Mohegan Sun visitors who've racked up Momentum points, those can also be redeemed for helicopter travel.

Additionally, Mohegan Sun says special packages will be offered to coincide with concerts, including the upcoming Linkin Park, Fleetwood Mac, Ariana Grande, and Miranda Lambert shows.

"Never before has a traveler been able to leave New York City – fly to Mohegan, enjoy a world class show, have a terrific dining experience, play in the casino and be back home in NYC by midnight," said Evan Licht, general manager of Blade. "Our partnership with Mohegan Sun, allows us to extend the traffic-free BLADE experience to one of the area's most sought-after destinations."

And what happens if inclement weather grounds your flight? No worries, as Blade says that all bookings are protected by the Maserati All-Weather Guarantee. This means that if you book a flight and bad weather prevents you from taking off, you'll be driven to your destination in a Maserati Quattroporte, a 4-door luxury vehicle built by the Italian car manufacturer.

The company says the luxury drive is free and that you'll be given air-travel credits to fly again at a later date.
