(US).- Wynn Resorts has finalized its USD 35 M purchase of a contaminated property of the former Monsanto chemical plant, along the Mystic River in Everett, where it will build a USD 1.6 billion casino. The company said they will cleanup of the 33-acre parcel of land and eventually begin construction.

Federal indictments returned in October charged that the former owners of the property with attempting to conceal the fact that a convicted felon and known mob associate stood to profit from the sale.

Officials say Wynn had no knowledge of the alleged hidden ownership, which earlier prompted state regulators to approve a revised deal that lowered the original USD 75 million purchase price to USD 35 million.
