Last week, the Generalitat, the regional government of Catalonia, arranged with La Caixaa a 18-month purchase option for more than 110 million euros on the land where it the leisure complex BCN World is planned, after Veremonte, the driving investor of the project, abandoned the purchase option.
In response to a question submitted by ICV-EUiA in the Parliament, the plenary of the Parliament, Mas-Colell has guaranteed that the purchase option does not involve any “money from the public sector” and that, if after 18 months there are no buyers, this option falls and “there will be no expenses or penalties for anyone.”
"It has not cost and it will never cost a public euro, and if they repeat it, it will be in bad faith,” said the councilor to eco-socialist Representative Hortènsia Grau, who had asked Govern to inform the details about the agreement signed with La Caixa.
On the other hand, the head of Economy has explained that a tender process to obtain authorizations and gaming licenses has started. Four companies have shown interest, among them two of which is on the part of Veremonte, with a Chinese company and the Perelada group also showing keen interest. In addition, Mas-Colell has announced that the Government's urban plan follows all “legal requirements” in July 2015.
