(Australia).- Tony Fung, the Hong Kong billionaire, has receive regulatory approval for his USD 6.52 B Aquis Great Barrier Reef Resort, the approval by an Australian state planning department has now cleared its first legislative hurdle towards becoming a reality.

The Queensland Coordinator-General approved the environmental design of Aquis, with the state finding the proposed project posed no unacceptable risk to the Great Barrier Reef, one of Australia’s main tourist destinations.

Plans for the resort which will have 7,500 hotel rooms, a conference centre, an 18 hole championship golf course and theatres still needs to make further regulatory measures and of course a casino license approval, but the first step has now been made in Fung’s dream of the casino resort.
