(US).- Connecticut's Native American-run casinos are reporting declines in slot machine betting and revenue for October. Mohegan Sun said Monday total slot machine bets last month reached USD 581.9 M, down from USD 592.7 M in October 2013. The share of wagers known as revenue was USD 48.9 M in October, down from about USD 49 M for the same month one year ago.

Foxwoods Resort Casino said total slot bets were US$ 477.2 million, down from US$ 480.7 million. The Slot revenue figure of US$ 39.7 million was down from US$ 42.1 million in October 2013.

Betting and revenue have fallen steadily due to increasing competition and continuing weakness in consumer demand.

Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority Mitchell Etess recently suggested an alliance with Foxwoods to build a third casino in Connecticut near the Massachusetts line to compete with casinos opening in the Bay State.
