“Jenny Williams will come to the end of her term as Commissioner at the Gambling Commission in September 2015,” a Gambling Commission spokesperson said. “We don’t know the exact date of her last day as yet. The recruitment process is underway with a view to having the new chief executive on board in early 2015 which will allow for a handover period to ensure a smooth transition.”
In a statement to industry operators, commission chairman Philip Graf said that Williams would play a central role in the search for her successor. Graf added that Williams would be a “hard act to follow”.
Williams has helped to strengthen the commission’s senior management team ahead of the implementation of the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Bill on October 1.
In March, it was announced that Sue Harley, the customer services director at UK bookmaker Ladbrokes, and Roger Parkes, the former director of group compliance at online betting company Betfair, would work with the regulatory body to support its duties in regulating remote gambling operators based offshore.
