Detroit casinos revenue rise 7 percent in October

(US).- Aggregate revenue for Detroit’s three casinos rose 6.6 percent on an annual basis to USD 113.4 M in October, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board. The rise was led by Greektown Casino, which posted a 15 percent rise in revenue to USD 28.7 M. MotorCity Casino’s revenue increased 7.4 percent to USD 37.7 M, while MGM Grand’s revenue edged up 1.6 percent to USD 47 M.

The three casinos’ year-to-date, aggregate revenue is still off by 2 percent compared to 2013.

Here’s each casino’s market share in October:

• MGM: 42 percent

• MotorCity: 33 percent

• Greektown: 25 percent

Gaming taxes for the three casinos last month was US$ 9.2 million, compared with US$ 8.6 million in October 2013. In the third quarter of 2014, gaming taxes at the Detroit casinos totaled US$ 26.7 million, compared with US$ 26.4 million in the third quarter of 2013.
