At 5 p.m., the media was allowed to be present for the last presentation at the meeting. Darío Piccirilli, from the Slots Certification Lab of the University of La Plata (UNLP) and GLI representative, introduced the two speakers: Silvio Vivas, General Manager of the Financial Support Institute for Social Action (IAFAS) of Entre Ríos, and President of the Argentine Commission of Commercialization of the Association of Lotteries, Sportsbooks and Casinos (ALEA); and Néstor Cotignola, VP of Buenos Aires Province Lottery and Executive Director of the sub-headquarters of the Latin American Corporation of State Lotteries and Betting (CIBELAE) for Latin America.
Silvio Vivas' speech involved ideas on the particularities of the gambling industry in Argentina and the challenges that IAFAS is facing in its double role as regulatory entity and games of chance operator.
He remarked that, unlike private operators, they have to deal with the short-term, because they are a government entity and have a four-year mandate. Considering this factor, he pointed out the importance of a good labor with the latter.
“We must prepare the structures so that they develop in a way that they can keep up with the times, despite internal and external variables,” he expressed.
Then, Néstor Cotignola detailed the labor that CIBELAE is doing in the region and their approach to the World Lottery Association (WLA). The Corporation participated this year as a FADJA exhibitor and, for the second time, this week it is participating with a booth at SAGSE Latin America @ Buenos Aires.
Javier Díaz, GLI Director for South America, spoke to close the event and invited all attendees to enjoy the cocktails.
Participants received an issue of “i-Gaming in South America”, the new publication from Yogonet Group, dedicated to the disclosure and legal opening of online gaming in the region.
GLI is presenting its professional and top-level testing services at booth 301 in SAGSE.
