Sources said that there are now questions if laws will ever be passed to permit casino resorts in Japan. The source is quoted as saying that the casino bill will now be set aside to at the earliest beginning of 2015 and maybe not even then. The current parliamentary session ends on the 30th November and the source said; “That if they can’t pass it now, I doubt whether they’ll ever be able to pass it.”
The news will be a major blow to international casino operators that saw Japan as possibly the second largest gambling hub after Macau, but with the current lack of support for the bill among parliamentarians, any casino bill is unlikely to happen in the future as the major driving force was the 2020 Olympic Games.
