Strip gaming revenue was US$ 553 million, a 6.08 percent drop from August 2013. Downtown Las Vegas, meanwhile, brought in US$ 34.7 million, a 4.34 percent increase from last year.
It was a mixed bag for other Southern Nevada regions, too: Laughlin and the Boulder Strip recorded declines of 6.64 percent and 4.44 percent, respectively. North Las Vegas and Mesquite saw increases of 6.86 percent and 1.72 percent, respectively. Overall, Clark County gaming revenue for August dropped 5.15 percent from the same month last year.
Baccarat win, which analysts have said drove growth in previous months, saw a double-digit decline last month, dropping statewide by 12.41 percent from last year to US$ 169.5 million. Online poker pulled in US$ 742,000 in August - an 8.65 percent increase from last year but notably below June’s revenue of more than US$ 1 million.
The state collected US$ 50.7 million in taxes on August’s winnings, a 1.25 percent decrease from last year.
