Kingson Sian, who is president of Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, on Tuesday told reporters that the first phase of Resorts World Bayshore will house three hotels composed of the upscale Westin and Okura brands, as well as another high-end brand under the Genting Hong Kong Group.
Travellers is a joint venture between Alliance Global Group Inc (AGI) and Genting Hong Kong."We are bringing back those brands that left us," Sian said on the sidelines of the annual shareholders meeting of AGI. The three hotels will have at least 800 rooms in total.
The first phase of Resorts World Bayshore will also have casino space, shopping mall and a theater. Eventually, the facility will house 2,800 rooms, helping AGI achieve its target to have a network of 12,000 rooms by 2020.
When asked if Resorts World Bayshore will have a theme park component, Sian said: "We will disclose at an appropriate time.""When you open the latest, you would have seen what they have so you can do something that they don’t have," he added.
Resorts World Bayshore City Inc (RWBCI) will undertake the development of the second integrated resort. Sian declined to comment on the current ownership structure of RWBCI, but it will eventually become a wholly owned subsidiary of Travellers.
Travellers will break ground on Resorts World Bayshore in the next 90 days with completion slated in 2018. The completion of the project was pushed back from the original date of 2016 because the turnover of the land was delayed, Sian said.
The first phase of Resorts World Bayshore will account for less than a third of the 31-hectare property. The resort will be three times the size of Resorts World Manila in Newport City located across Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City.
AGI has interests in property development, tourism estate development, food and beverage manufacturing and distribution, and quick service restaurants. Resorts World Bayshore will be the fourth casino operator to open in Pagcor Entertainment City.
