(US).- Online gaming receipts helped Atlantic City casinos achieve a modest increase in revenue in August compared to the same period last year, according to the revenue report released by the state Division of Gaming Enforcement.  Casinos won USD 294.5 M on-site in August and an additional USD 10.5 M through online gaming, a revenue stream that didn't exist at this time last year.

The combined total of US$ 305 million is a 2.3 percent increase over last year's US$ 298.1 million. That on-site figure is 1.2 percent less than what was reported for last August.  Total win was 11.2 percent higher in August than July, when casinos saw US$ 274.3 million in win from online and on-site gambling combined.

Borgata far out-earned its competition in Atlantic City in August, totaling nearly US$ 66 million compared to about US$ 62.5 million during the same month last year and about $60 million in July.

Caesars Atlantic City saw the second-highest win total of the 11 casinos still in operation last month, with just shy of US$ 44 million in win. The property won about US$ 38 million during the same period last year and a relatively paltry US$ 28 million in July.

Showboat, which closed on Aug. 31, saw a hair over US$ 15 million in win during its last month in operation. It saw roughly the same figure in July and about US$ 600,000 more last August.

Revel, which closed on Sept. 2, won about US$ 12 million last month compared with more than US$ 20 million last August and just under US$ 15 million in July.

Trump Plaza, which is scheduled to close Sept. 16, won just under US$ 5 million last month compared to nearly US$ 9 million last August and about US$ 5.4 million last month. Sister property Trump Taj Mahal, which could close in November, won about US$ 25 million in August, about US$ 1.5 million less than it won in the same period last year and US$ 3 million more than last month.

Bally's won US$ 25.7 million, Golden Nugget US$ 16.8 million, Harrah's US$ 38.9 million, Resorts US$ 14.9 million and Tropicana US$ 31.3 million.
