(US).- In its latest gaming industry report, Juniper Research is predicting that revenues from tablet games is set to triple over the next five years, to USD 13.3 B. The mobile research specialists added that 2015 will be a 'critical' year for smaller independent games developers in a marketplace that now boasts more than 1m apps, as they will need to look for greater funding to bring about awareness of their products.
Juniper's report also notes that advertisements are increasingly key to revenue generation with only 6 percent of mobile games paid for at the point of download by 2019. "Many smartphone games can be played on a PC as well, while the popularity of PC games, especially massively multiplayer online games, will remain relatively stable over the next years," said Eva Hunyadi, Juniper Research analyst, told II Web.
