“Although it is true that in Argentina there are restrictions on importation, known as the Affidavit Prior to Import, which were put in place two years ago, those restrictions are applied only to the final importation. It means that there is no restriction to file temporary importation without exchange currency, so exhibitors can bring in any goods destined for the show,” assured Galarza, who has a wide experience in the gambling sector and its operation with regard to customs, imports and exports.
“After importation, goods will have to be re-exported (unless they have an Affidavit Prior to Import that enables their nationalization). The Affidavit Prior to Import system is run by the Argentine authorities, so the importation situation is uncertain. In short, it is very hard (if not impossible) for a company to plan its importations. However, it does not apply to temporary importations for trade shows,” highlighted the head of ASAP.
“With regard to importation of promotional material, the SAGSE organization is applying for a tax exemption, which would make the organization exempt from the Affidavit Prior to Import requirement. It is expected that this exemption is granted before the start of the show,” stressed Galarza, who offered our readers the possibility of contacting SAGSE’s official logistic operator, ASAP ([email protected]).
