(Australia).- Tabcorp is looking into ways in which the Australian gaming company could potentially offer live online betting services in retail venues. Its chief executive David Attenborough told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper that the company plans to integrate digital offerings into more than 2,500 venues across New South Wales and Victoria.

The move is being made with retail betting figures having fallen for the company in both states.In-play betting is currently only allowed via the telephone and in person in Australia, but the report said that Tabcorp might be able to provide the service through a venue’s license. “It is something that obviously we’re working on,” Attenborough said.

“We would love to develop that further... [it is] certainly the kind of thing the venues would love to see in place, because it is logical that if someone is already in the venue, they are essentially betting under the venue’s licence.”

Attenborough said that the digital integration could allow Tabcorp to promote other products to retail customers.“The more value we add back to the venues, the more likely the venues are to be content with us as a partner,” he said.
