At Monday's Commission meeting the following key dates were also set:
July 30: The applications of the casino projects will be posted online.
- Sept. 8, 9: The applicants will make their presentations before the New York Gaming Facility Location Board in Albany.
During the meeting, Kevin Law, president of the Long Island Association, was named chairman of the Facility Location Board, which will make its selections in the fall.
Nine projects in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties are vying for up to two gaming licenses.
Eight companies have applied for state permits to build casinos at nine sites in the Catskills and Hudson Valley. Never mind that only one or two permits will be awarded by the state, and that the remaining applicants will lose much if not all of their US$ 1 million application fees.
