(US).- The New York State Gaming Commission announced the appointment of two more members on Monday. The two new members are said to have close political ties with Governor Andrew Cuomo. The siting panel of the Commission will be responsible for deciding who will be awarded the state’s casino licenses.

The two new commission members include Dennis E. Glazer who is a lawyer. Glazer happens to be married to Attorney Janet DiFiore who was Cuomo’s appointee to head an ethics panel.

The second appointment is Kevin Law who is the head of the Long Island Association. He is also the co-chair of Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council. The remaining three members are Paul Francis, Stuart Rabinowitz and William Thompson.

Last fall, state voters approved four casinos to be built on non-Indian land in three regions including the Albany-Saratoga area, the Hudson Valley-Catskills and the Southern Tier-Finger Lakes area. Each will be granted at least one license and it is expected that the fourth will be granted to the Hudson-Catskills.

By the June 30 deadline, nine casino proposals for the Hudson Valley-Catskills were received by the state. The final selection of the sites is set to be announced in the fall.
