(US).- The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold the first of three public hearing to decide on whether or not they will award MGM a casino license, this morning at 10:00 AM at the Mass Mutual Center. During the hearing, the commission will share their findings of the month-long evaluation of MGM Springfield’s casino application.

Today’s hearing will be the first of three open presentation and deliberation hearings.  The second will be on Wednesday, at 10 A.M., and the third will be on Thursday in Boston.

The gaming commission is scheduled to vote on MGM’s application at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield on Friday. If the commission decides to award the gaming license, MGM Springfield will become the first licensed casino operator in the state.

However, next month the Supreme Judicial Court is expected to decide whether a repeal question will be allowed on the ballot this coming November. If that happens, voters could repeal the state gambling law altogether, preventing MGM Springfield or any other proposed Massachusetts casino from becoming a reality.
