SIGA vamps up casinos with addition of 250 new slot machines

(US).- The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority is getting another 250 slot machines for its casinos. The new slots will be installed across its six Saskatchewan casinos in early 2015. It is the first increase in SIGA slot machines since 2008.

The increase brings the total number of slot machines in SIGA's casinos to 2,120.  There are an additional 1,111 slots in Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw.“SIGA’s operations have grown during the past six years, both in the number of visitors and also in some building expansions at their existing casinos,” said Donna Harpauer, minister responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority in a release. “These new machines will help address capacity issues at peak play times while also generating additional revenue that will benefit both First Nations and governments priorities.”

The province also has 3,929 VLTs that operate in licensed establishments across Saskatchewan. The province has capped the number of VLTs that can operate in the province at 4,000.There is no cap for slot machines.

In 2012-13 SIGA recorded a net income of US$ 86.8 million. First Nations gaming in Saskatchewan is conducted through an agreement between the province and the FSIN. The FSIN formed SIGA to operate casinos on its behalf.
