(US).- Malaysian conglomerate Genting Group has unveiled plans for a multi-phased opening of its new Resorts World Las Vegas facility in the US state of Nevada. Genting, which presented the plans to the Nevada Gaming Control Board last week, said the new resort would create “tens of thousands” of jobs and generate “hundreds of millions of dollars” in tax revenue for Southern Nevada. The site will feature 3,500 gaming positions, 3,000 rooms and a number of food and beverage outlets.

Construction work on the new resort, which will be located on the site of the old Stardust resort on the Las Vegas Strip, is expected to begin in the second half of 2014 and take between 24 to 36 months to complete.

Genting Group chairman KT Lim said: “Our goal at Resorts World Las Vegas is to complement existing properties and bring a new and unique entertainment destination to the Las Vegas Strip. “Our themed resort will cater to the high-end visitor as well as the budget-minded tourist. We will give first-time guests a new reason to visit Las Vegas and other tourists a great reason to return.”

The development will initially consist of a gaming floor that measures in excess of 100,000 square-feet, as well as a hotel tower, retail village and showroom.

In subsequent phases of development, Resorts World Las Vegas will also add three new hotel towers, a still-to-be-determined large-scale attraction, additional gaming space, a convention centre, a smaller theatre, water park, movie theatre and bowling alley.
