Nevada casino revenue jumps 7.6 percent in March
Michael Lawton, senior research analyst for the board, said casinos had strong winnings on blackjack, craps and baccarat. Statewide, there was a 36 percent increase in winnings on craps; a 6.07 percent increase on blackjack and a 39.9 percent increase on baccarat. Casinos on the Las Vegas Strip posted a 10.9 percent increase in winnings to US$ 560.7 million.
The board reported the casino win in downtown Las Vegas rose 12 percent; North Las Vegas increased by 15 percent; Laughlin climbed 8.3 percent; the Boulder Strip was up 9.6 percent; and Mesquite was off 8.9 percent. Gambling in Mesquite has been down six of the last nine months.
In the balance of Clark County, casinos reported a 2.1 percent gain in revenue. The monthly report showed the gaming win in Washoe County dropped 10.5 percent, the third straight month of decline.
After five straight months of declines, gaming revenue at South Lake Tahoe casinos was up 31.6 percent in March compared to a year ago.
