(Spain).- Spanish regulatory authority Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) will hold a briefing today with regulatory authorities, certification bodies and online operators to reveal full details on the imminent legalisation and introduction of online slots in the Spanish Market.

Topics on the agenda are expected to include license procedures, technical requirements and expected time frames for the introduction of the gambling vertical. In related news, the debate on international liquidity between Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom has apparently been reopened and although no formal comment has come from the DGOJ, there is speculation that the possibility of international liquidity may also be addressed at tomorrow’s meeting.

Fransceco Rhone, director of the Agenzia delle Dogane e Dei Monopoli (AAMS) said: “We are in a process of a preliminary study of a possible international liquidity between Spain, Britain and Italy”.

Recent industry results in both the Italian and Spanish markets have again highlighted the need for shared player pools to yield the desired results.  Although France was involved in shared liquidity talks last year, French politicians have since rejected the idea.
