(UK).- Pools and sports betting operator Sportech has announced that Lorne Weil has resigned from the company’s board with immediate effect. Weil, former CEO and chairman of gaming solutions provider Scientific Games, will remain affiliated with the company in an ongoing advisory capacity.

Sportech said Weil’s resignation is a “re-alignment of responsibilities” that is in line with its “strategic  ambition”. Weil first joined Sportech as a non-executive director in October 2010 following the company’s acquisition of Scientific Games Racing.

Weil remained in his role at Scientific Games until last year when a restructure of the company’s board saw Ronald Perelman take the role of chairman and David Kennedy appointed chief executive officer.

Roger Withers, chairman of Sportech, said: “Lorne has been an important contributor to the board and, as a leading figure over many years in the gaming and technology industries in the United States, we look forward to his continued involvement as a consultant."
