(US).- American Gaming Association President and CEO Geoff Freeman issued the following statement after Massachusetts Attorney General candidate Maura Healey announced her opposition to casinos in the Commonwealth based on outdated myths:

“Ms. Healey's comments demonstrate an alarming lack of awareness about an industry that will create thousands of jobs paying well above the minimum wage, help small businesses grow and contribute millions of dollars to support education, public safety and infrastructure improvements. While it’s up to Massachusetts to decide whether or not to welcome gaming, communities across the nation, from Bethlehem, PA, to Kansas City, MO, to the Gulf Coast, know the value of casinos as community partners and economic engines.”

“Instead of tired stereotypes, residents deserve facts about an industry that is proven to boost economies, attract visitors and provide extraordinary entertainment.”
