Siri says he hopes the casino will help draw more visitors to the downtown and prompt other casinos to open. "I'm very proud," he said of his attempt to pump life into the downtown gaming corridor challenged for years by recession as well as tribal gaming in California. "This was an empty shell just nine weeks ago. It's exciting. It's going to light up the street. Hopefully, it'll start the revitalization of the entire downtown area," said Siri.
Siri's Casino offers more than 140 slot machines as well as bar, big-screen TVs, snack bar, a mermaid fountain and a small lounge area, all surrounded by tropical-themed lighting. Later this year, Siri said he hopes to add a sports book. It offers hottest penny games like the popular “Buffalo” from Aristocrat, to the always liberal IGT “Game King” Multi-Game machines, to the ever-present Wide-Area Progressive Wheel-of-Fortune.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday afternoon drew hundreds of people to the casino.
