While looking at the issue of gender inequality through a wider lens, global gender inequalities become apparent. In today's world there are over 190 Heads of State around the world - only 9 of them are women. Women make up just 13% of parliament members around the world.
The world of gaming shuns these statistics, as the caliber of women involved in boththe land-based and iGaming industries is profound. It is easy to find women holding senior positions in the industry, from team leaders, customer service managers and affiliate managers to casino managers and more.
For this reason, the International Women in Gaming Awards (WIG) were created back in 2010. Every year, the WIG recognizes women in the gaming industry, highlighting industry role models and showing that the industry offers equal and exciting careers for women. Just a glimpse at the WIG categories for 2014 shows the wide extent of women in the industry, with nominations for affiliate managers, affiliate teams, industry achievers, awards for marketing excellence and more.
