Fiji’s first casino resort breaks ground

(Fiji).- One Hundred Sands was given the go-ahead to be Fiji’s first ever casino in December 2011 and now, developers have begun constructing the resort. The developers were supposed to have the casino resort built and operational in October 2013.

The us$290 million casino resort will create over 1,600 jobs during the construction period and once completed.


The company is currently paying a fine of us$100,000 per month to the Fiji government in contract agreement delays as the developers were supposed to have the casino resort built and operational in October 2013.


One Hundred Sands company chairman, Larry Claunch, has told local newspapers that the company is still planning to develop the resort and will make a full statement on progress in April.


However with construction now underway in Fiji it is expected to be completed by mid 2015.
