BMM executive moderates Caribbean Gaming Show conferences

With its presence and participation, Andy Viera Díaz demonstrated his support and enthusiasm with the event. He remarked the position of Puerto Rico within the gaming industry. “As a jurisdiction we have an advantage: we have experience. We are the second oldest gaming jurisdiction, after Nevada.”

He talked about the current situation of gaming in the island, the problem of illegal gaming –he remarked that not only there are illegal slots but also illegal table games- and about the importance of events of this kind in order to install the debate and boost the industry.

“Internet and the gambling industry, electronics and communications,” was the name of the second talk of the day, in charge of Victor Pereyra, international counsellor of PricewaterhouseCoopers and executive director of the event. He analyzed how has the relation among these elements has changed with the years. He highlighted that there are approximately 7.6 million operational machines worldwide, and the 65% of them are in Japan, where pachinko is the main game.

After a coffee break, other three presentations took place, beginning with Douglas L. Florence, Director of Business Development of Avigilon for the global gaming industry. Avigilon provides video surveillance and access control for casinos. Under the name “Protecting your games beyond the pit layering security”, his conference revised the main issues casino operators should consider about security.

Axis Communications was represented by its Regional Sales Manager for the Caribbean, Rick Guerrero. This company offers innovative video surveillance solutions supported by customer service. The executive talked in detail about the advantage of its products.

Moderator Karen Sierra-Hughes closed the four conferences and offered the following talk: “Perspective of the regulatory process of control and technical compliance in Latin America and the Caribbean,” with the contribution of Giselle Brea, Panama Gambling Director, who could not assist to the talk. 

To conclude, Elizabeth Leiva, CEO of CGS Group, who gave a recognition to all the speakers for their participation at the Caribbean Gaming Show & Summit. Conferences continue today with the moderation of Richard Williamson, Senior VP of Regulatory Education of BMM Testlabs, and iGaming as the main issue.
