What innovations did you present at ICE?
Innovations on show from Advantech at ICE 2014 included two new platform products, the exciting new DPX-S435 in the S Series range and the DPX-E130 in the E Series range, as well as display solutions from the newly acquired Advantech GPEG division.
The DPX-S435 is the first Intel Xeon capable single board integrated solution with a full feature set of I/O, COMs, storage and advanced security designed specifically for the Gaming Industry. It features the latest 4th Generation Intel Core architecture CPUs. Best in class CPU performance – the DPX-S435 supports a huge range of price and performance from dual core Celeron, through Core i3, Core i5, Core i7 and up to Xeon CPUs.
The latest Intel Embedded platform ensures customers a long lived and future proof platform ready for whatever performance needs come along. Working closely with Intel, Advantech has dozens of new products coming out based on 4th generation Core platforms and the DPX-S435 for gaming is one of many.
As the latest member of the field proven DPX-S Series, the DPX-S435 is backwards compatible with previous models giving existing customers an easy migration path to the fastest technology available. The DPX-S435 supports Windows 7, Windows 8 and embedded Microsoft operating systems as well as Linux.
The all-in-one platform offers all the hardware interfaces, onboard features and security needed for a typical slot machine for the regulated casino gaming market. The gaming subsystem is field proven and approved by regulatory labs for markets worldwide. Leveraging this proven technology combined with the latest Intel high performance CPUs, the gaming OEM can benefit from low risk, fast time to market for his next generation product based on the DPX-S435.
The DPX-E130 is a complete gaming solution designed specifically for the revised Italian AWP3 regulations. A fully featured AAMS compliant software API and libraries are provided for simple integration of the smart card, fiscal interfaces, security, I/O and COMs to the AAMS servers. The system needs very little power which is drawn from 5V DC through the JAMMA interface with onboard regulation to provide a robust power interface for new and retrofit applications under AWP3 and Comma6a. The system, based on the AMD G-Series embedded chipset, is designed to be low power, high performance with a 5 year life cycle all at a very competitive price.
Advantech was also showing the LCD display products from the Advantech–GPEG division. Those products included high performance gaming touchscreen monitors, button deck displays and analog to digital scale cards.
How was the show for Advantech? What feedback have you received from visitors?
During the first two days of the show the quality and quantity of meetings were fabulous. The third day was slower probably due to the transport disruptions on the London Underground rail. But overall the show was very positive and effective for Advantech.
There was a lot of customer interest in the new products on show. Especially the DPX-S435 but also the new range of capabilities and products that GPEG now brings to our gaming industry customers in the form of specialized monitor and display solutions.
