South Point launches real gaming online poker site in Nevada

The current intrastate market in Nevada averages a combined 185 players as of this writing, which may leave little room for a third product to achieve viable liquidity. 

“This is a regular field trial of their [South Point's] I-gaming poker platform and will be monitored closely,” Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairman A.G. Burnett told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

South Point launched a free-play poker site in late 2011, the first of its kind in Nevada, which many believed would give the casino the edge in transitioning to real-money online wagering. But that turned out to not be the case, as UP and WSOP managed to squeeze in ahead.

No download is required to play at Real Gaming for those within Nevada's borders. Deposit options include electronic check, wire transfer, mailing a check via snail mail, or making a cash deposit at the South Point Casino cashier cage. Location verification is necessary and permitted only by iPhones or Android phones.

No promotional bonuses are available as yet during the soft launch phase. The player VIP program is known as Real Rewards and does list cashback up to 30% for players who reach the highest tier of the new site's loyalty program.
