(Spain).- The Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) would be submitting its draft plan and legislation for the introduction of online slots to regional authorities next week.

Following that, the regulator will publish the draft online and invite public comment and input. After digesting this, the DGOJ will forward the possibly amended draft to the Ministry for Tax, which will arrange publication in the government gazette six months ahead of implementation.

Operators who are still in the Spanish market despite its high taxes and ring-fenced player pool are hoping that the introduction of slot action will revitalise player interest and attract more business in a sector that has not been doing well over the past year as players gamble less in a struggling economy.
