Union Gaming Research Macau analyst Grant Govertsen says slot machines and electronic table games with live croupiers delivered just 4.4 percent of gross gaming revenue last year. “The implementation of a cap on some number of machines would likely have a very minimal impact,” Govertsen says.
Secretary for the Economy and Finance Francis Tam Pak Yuen announced last month that the government was considering how best to regulate slot machine numbers.
The government has yet to clarify whether the limits would apply only to slot machines or to electronic table games with live croupiers, or to both.
