(US).- The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has set a timetable for the award of the first and only slots parlor license in the Bay State. It expected to publicly announce the winner of the license on February 28, following a series of public meetings and deliberations starting on February 24.

The Commission will choose between three proposed facilities that could have up to 1,250 slot machines, but no table games.

The bidders are Penn National Gaming, which hopes to operate a slots parlor at the Plainridge harness race track in Plainville; Raynham Park, a former dog-racing track; and Cordish Cos., which has proposed building a slots parlor in Leominster.

Commissioners are using several main criteria to evaluate the proposals, including economic development, finances and site design.
