(US).- Gov. Andrew Cuomo set a schedule for creating a casino siting board to be appointed by the end of January. But as of Wednesday, the New York State Gaming Commission hadn’t scheduled a meeting before the end of the month Friday. The commission will appoint members to the board.

Commission spokesman Lee Park says they’re evaluating candidates and members will be selected very soon. He says they expect to meet the governor’s March deadline for requesting casino applications.

New York voters in November passed a state constitutional amendment to allow Las Vegas-style casinos. State officials can now award up to four casino licenses upstate.
