Successful DRGT installation of firm’s WAP technology in Africa

(South Africa).- DRGT has announced the successful ‘Duma’ WAP implementation at Sun International, together with its African partner Simplicit-e Gaming Solutions. Back in March of 2013, Sun International installed a DRGT WAP solution on 117 slots spread across 12 South African casinos. Des Whitcher, director of gaming and slots at Sun International, has already increased the number of slot machines linked to the Duma WAP to 160.

The ‘Duma’ WAP was a joint development between Sun International, Simplicit-e Gaming, Gold Club and DRGT. ‘Duma’, which is the Zulu word for thunder became an instant hit.

The three-level WAP is specifically developed to include a number of unique characteristics. The top level starts at R600,000 and increments up to an average hit value of just over R1million. The other 2 levels are static and have values of R250,000 and R50,000 respectively.

The jackpot data is constantly fed from the machines to the DRGT system, which immediately calculates the progressive values of the jackpot level and instantly distributes this back to the slot machines and overhead signage.

This symbol-triggered jackpot has an additional benefit: Once the jackpot is hit and won, then the winning information is sent directly to all participating slot machines and the overhead bank signage in all the twelve casinos. The win information includes the Jackpot Level Hit, The Hit Value, the Hit Casino and the Hit Machine Number. Furthermore, a jackpot jingle is played in all sites while this information is relayed on the overhead signage. Every player participating in all these casinos is thus aware of the jackpot win.
