Following the end of its operations in the Channel Islands, Sportingbet will be transferring its regulatory regime from Alderney to Malta. Sportingbet has been present in Malta for the past few months and currently employs 29 workers.
Meanwhile, Streamlogue Operations will be investing in Malta and will start its full operations in the second half of January. The company will be running live casino studio facilities. It has taken on 53 new workers with the intention to grow further and expand into other niches.
Evolution Gaming Malta - an expansion of the operational Live Casino in Riga, Latvia – is also set to grow, with plans to increase its number of staff from 10 to 130.
The Parliamentary Secretary for Competitiveness and Economic Growth, Dr. Edward Zammit Lewis, expressed his gratitude to newly appointed Lotteries and Gaming Authority chairman Joseph Cuschieri.
"Since the first day in office, the parliamentary secretariat has sought to provide a better and more efficient service to gaming operators," Zammit Lewis said while mentioning that the gaming industry amounts to around 12% of Malta's economic product. The parliamentary secretariat also pledged that the government would continue supporting companies in the digital economy sector.
