(US).- The state’s largest casino collected us$ 586 million in gross gambling revenue in 2013, according to data released on Tuesday by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency. The pre-tax haul included nearly us$ 153 million from live-action table games, which Maryland Live began offering in April.

Maryland’s four casinos generated nearly us$ 750 million in total gambling revenue last year. About us$ 415 million was collected in taxes, including us$ 315 million that went to the Education Trust Fund.

Statewide casino revenue in December totaled $65 million, with Maryland Live contributing the bulk of it: us$ 52 million. It was the Arundel Mills casino’s eighth consecutive month of us$ 50 million or more in gross gambling revenue.

”We’re very pleased with our performance,” Rob Norton, Maryland Live’s president and general manager, said in a statement. “The addition of live action tables and poker has been very exciting for the property from an experience and revenue standpoint, while slots showed steady growth through the year, even with the addition of tables.”
