(Germany / Australia).- Jumbo Interactive has launched its German online lottery brokerage business via its wholly-owned subsidiary Jumbo Interactive GmbH. “With our first sale in Germany, Jumbo starts a new era as a truly international Company”, said CEO Mike Veverka.

The launch follows last year’s award of a five-year licence for Jumbo to provide online lottery brokerage services in all sixteen German states. “After a year of intensive software development, localisation and license negotiations, Jumbo’s new office in Munich has begun taking orders for official Germany lottery tickets at jumbolotto.de.”

The company says it plans to commence marketing efforts in early 2014 to establish a customer base of regular players in Germany, as it seeks to compete with the likes of Lotto24 in reselling popular state lottery games such as Eurojackpot, Lotto 6 aus 49 and Glücksspirale.

The once profitable online lottery brokerage sector had been outlawed for four years under the previous German State Treaty on Gaming, but was legalised again under the revised State Treaty which came into force in July 2012.

Shares in Jumbo Interactive gained close to 10 per cent last week following the launch, before falling back to close in Sydney on Thursday at us$2.12 per share, down 4.07 per cent.
