(US).- Pennsylvania state Senator Mike Stack, currently serving his fourth term of office in the eastern state, announced last week that he plans to introduce a bill specifically banning online gambling legalisation to the state Legislature.

The Democratic Party senator says that if Pennsylvania follows other US states in legalising online gambling it would present a significant risk for the state economy by creating the potential for a drop in revenues at brick-and-mortar casinos that have opened throughout the state in the last decade. In other words he fears the spectre of “market cannibalisation” - a speculative threat that has been debunked by many gambling experts in recent months.

A recent survey of Pennsylvania voters showed that there was little appetite for further gambling expansion in the state.
