(Argentina, exclusive Yogonet.com).- Karen Sierra-Hughes, GLI Director of Latin American Development, talked to Yogonet.com at SAGSE Buenos Aires about the show and the Latin American markets.  “GLI has been very dedicated to the region for more than 15 years, and we will continue to be,” she said.

How was SAGSE 2013 for GLI?
SAGSE was very good for GLI. We started the week by welcoming more than 35 regulators from ten regulatory entities to our inaugural Argentina Gaming Regulators Seminar. The event also drew institutional representation from ALEA (Association of Lotteries, Quinielas and Casinos of the State of Argentina) and CIBELAE. The Seminar helped regulators better understand some of today’s most important topics facing the gaming industry in Argentina including Gaming Security, Progressive Systems, Overview of iGaming, and Field Inspections & Audits. Then at the show, we were very busy meeting with regulators across Latin America. Also our supplier clients were very interested to hear about our latest developments, including GLiCloudS, a real-time inventory control system, and GLI S.C.A.L.E., a tool for load testing and more.

How do you see the Argentinean industry evolving over the short and medium term?
The conversations we had with attendees during our Argentina Gaming Regulators Seminar were very positive. The mood seems to be very upbeat that there is room for continued growth, and GLI will continue to work closely with regulators throughout the country to help them as technology continues to progress. Regarding suppliers, Argentina has very important software developers for both game and systems in land-based gaming, iGaming and lottery, and they are thriving both locally and internationally. They are our clients and we were glad to have a strong booth presence at the show to support them in their plans and objectives to take their product wherever their commercial needs directs them.

What Latin American markets have greater growth potential for you and why?
There is exciting potential throughout Latin America. GLI has been very dedicated to the region for more than 15 years, and we will continue to be. As new technologies are developed, they bring new potential for growth, and we will help regulators understand how new technologies may impact and benefit their jurisdictions. The entire region represents exciting opportunities for GLI, from the smaller jurisdiction to the bigger ones. With every new regulatory development, every new jurisdiction that regulates gaming or lotteries, we will be there to support their efforts and facilitate the path to achieve their objectives. For suppliers, we are constantly developing new tools that speed time to market, whether they are coming into or going out of Latin America, so we see growth throughout the entire region.

As 2013 comes to an end, what would you rate as your highs and lows this year?
As a test lab, we will not speak for the entire industry; however, we can say that from GLI’s perspective, this was a very positive year for gaming throughout Latin America.
We are very thankful for the support that Latin American and Caribbean regulators and lotteries demonstrated in attending our Latin American Regulators Roundtable and the Argentinean Regulators Seminar. Both events drove a total of more than 80 regulators from more than 22 jurisdictions. We are also very thankful to the Latin American suppliers who value the accuracy, transparency, integrity and impartiality of the GLI services, and who decide to put their products in our hands to help take them to all the jurisdictions around the world they want to enter. They understand that we will never be in the position to say that we are not accredited, because GLI is everywhere our clients need us to be. Overall, regulations were strengthened across the region and GLI had an instrumental part in all the technical regulatory developments. Those regulatory developments had a very positive result for regulators, operators, suppliers and players. We hope this trend will continue in 2014, particularly as new technologies come online
