What products did you present this year at SAGSE show?
This year we brought a wide range of the latest international products to Argentina, slot products as well as systems. Starting with slots, we are concentrating very much on our newest slot cabinet, the Dominator running on the server based ready Novo Line Interactive platform presenting the newest multi-games connected to the Magic Joker jackpot system a dynamic, card animated four-level mystery-progressive Jackpot. Another feature we are presenting in Argentina is the Remote Play System, which gives the operator the opportunity to let the guests play up to two machine at a time on tablet-PCs in their own WLAN environment for example in the smoking area. We also present our newest range of games on the Novostar SL slant-top cabinet. Further at the show is our single-player roulette game Pinball Roulette, where the player is croupier and player at the same time as he can shoot the ball into the wheel by himself, using a mechanical Pinball mechanism.
On the systems side, Octavian Argentina is presenting their highly modular 'tuneable' casino management system ACP to the Argentinian operators.
Were those products already presented at G2E Las Vegas?
Some of the products we have already presented in Vegas. Of course, there are always some adaptations to the different local markets and their specific requirements.
And what has been the performance of Novomatic products in Latin America? And what are the main countries for you?
Actually we have a very good track-record in the Latin American markets, for example in Peru, where we Novomatic leads as both manufacturer and as an operator. This duality is a vital part of Novomatic’s business strategy being operator and a supplier at the same time. Know-how from our own operations is integrated into R&D and so enhances our product development, for the international product range as well as for local products. Peru is indeed a very good example. Further in Colombia we had a fantastic year and we some positive initiatives in Mexico, and even Argentina is still a good market for us. We have some tough conditions here but we’ve been able to continue our business and thus can’t complain too much about it. Recent times have been more complicated than before, but let’s see what the future will bring. SAGSE even if it is clearly smaller than the years before started quite good, there is still some positive momentum in the market and we’ll see what happens in the future.
You said that you are both operator and manufacturer in Peru. Are you planning to replicate that model in other countries?
We have realized this business model in many different jurisdictions such as for example in Chile, where we’re operating together with Sun International, one of the biggest Latin American resort casinos, the Monticello. Of course, we are always observing many markets to see what opportunities may exist.
And this week you have announced that you bought an online company, Betware.
Betware is a high tech online lottery platform provider and the acquisition represents an important step for Novomatic to further complete the portfolio of products that we can offer to our customers. The nature of this business is international. Betware is an Icelandic company founded in 1998. It has built a very strong position in the gaming market with its clear corporate focus of developing and delivering state of the art gaming platform and electronic lottery solutions for National and Private Lotteries and supporting their online operations. We are extremely confident that we will have very good effects in between the two companies, Novomatic and Betware.
And what are your plans for Latin America for next year?
We just need to proceed as good as we’ve done before and further providing our customers with a superb international and market specific product offering together with top customer support. This is what we are striving for and we give our best to fulfill our customers’ expectations to the brand of Novomatic.
