How was SAGSE 2013 for Konami?
SAGSE was a great opportunity for Konami to meet, thank, and discuss future business with our customers. We showcased several new products we are releasing to the Latin American market. Our key releases were: Synkros, Konami’s Casino Management systems with a series of marketing features that for sure will make the difference in any casino. SeleXion, this is Konami’s multi games solution. Podium Goliath, our giant cabinet that will provide the operators a new line of product, and Dragon’s Victory, our newer 4 level linked progressive. The feedback from our customers was very positive, and we are convinced that we are on the right track to continue our expansion in those markets.
How do you feel the current import restrictions in Argentina affected the companies and products at the show; how do feel it shaped the mood of the event?
As in any business we will always face events that are not as favorable as we expect. In the same way, while having a negative impact for some, for sure it will be an opportunity for others. We focus our actions on viewing it as an opportunity.
What are your thoughts on the Argentine industry over the short and medium term?
For sure the restriction will impact the industry as a whole, but Argentina is a very mature market and have very experienced operators. This setback is not something that will affect them for long.
What Latin American markets have greater growth potential for you and why?
The overall region has a very good potential for growth. It is difficult to name just one. But from Mexico to Argentina there is always some very good potential for business.
As 2013 draws to a close, what have been the highs and lows for the gaming industry this year?
In general it was a very difficult year for everyone, what with import restrictions, new smoking bans, and changes in legislation. But despite this having some negative impact on casino revenue, the industry was able to manage them very well, and continue to expand and grow.
