Maryland casinos rake in nearly us$ 66.4 million in October

(US).- Revenue from Maryland's four casinos totalled nearly us$ 66.4 million last month, up us$ 1.04 million in September, the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency reported on Tuesday. As usual, the bulk of the revenue was generated by Maryland Live Casino in Anne Arundel County. Maryland Live last month pulled in us$ 51.8 million — a 69 percent increase on a year earlier — from its 4,341 slot machines and 174 table games.

For the fourth month in a row, Hollywood Casino Perryville's revenue increased over the year before. As the state's oldest casino, Hollywood had seen its revenue drop as new competitors opened. Last month, Hollywood posted revenue of us$ 6.9 million, up us$ 1.4 million from a year earlier. The casino operates 1,158 slot machines and 22 table games.

Revenue from Casino at Ocean Downs' 800 slot machines totaled u$ 4.2 million last month, up nearly 21 percent from a year ago. Rocky Gap Casino Resort brought in $3.4 million last month from its 558 slot machines and 13 table games. The casino opened in May so there is no year-to-year comparison.

Not counting Rocky Gap, revenue at the other three casinos increased last month by us$ 23.3 million — nearly 59 percent — from the year before.
