(US).- Advantech, well known leader in X86 embedded computing for the gaming industry, is growing its range of RISC-based products and is finding more and more applications in gaming. Leveraging the low cost and high performance of today’s RISC technology, the products bring new levels of cost effective and highly embeddable computing power.

Advantech’s RISC-based products use the same technology that is behind the revolution in mobile and embedded connected computing: Technology that is used in applications from smartphones and tablets to set top boxes, home media players, auto infotainment and residential gateways.

Advantech’s products widely use the ARM Cortex-A9 processors which are some of the latest and highest performance ARM processors from Freescale implementing the full richness of the widely supported ARMv7 architecture. A9 processors deliver an unprecedented package of features.

Advantech has two broad groups of products based on RISC architecture, module products in several industry standard formats and complete system level products. The modules are available in three main formats RTX, SMARC, and Q7 and are ideal for customers who need a flexible I/O system which can be implemented on a carrier board. 

The system level products are available with enclosures or as an embedded single board computer. These include digital signage controllers, networking devices, automation products.

Linux is the most widely supported operating system for these products, but Android and Windows Embedded board support packages are available for some products.
