In September, the number of visitors rose 7.9 percent year-on-year to 2.3 million. Same-day visitors accounted for 50.5 percent of the total.
Mainlanders and Hongkongers accounted for 64.4 percent and 22.4 percent of all visitor arrivals last month respectively. About 39 percent of mainland visitors entered Macau under the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS).
Visitors from the greater China area (mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan) made up 90.8 percent of all arrivals.
Visitors from Guangdong accounted for 25 percent of Macau’s total number of visitors in September. Visitors’ average length of stay remained virtually unchanged at just one day.
