Though that is encouraging for casinos - and the municipalities and schools that share a percentage of the casino tax - revenue for the first three quarters of the year at the Coast casinos remains us$ 25 million, behind the pace of 2012.
Not as lucky as the Coast casinos in September were casinos in the river counties in Mississippi and in neighboring Louisiana. Casino revenue slid us$ 9 million, or 10 %, from a year ago at the river casinos.
That put Mississippi's total gross casino revenue for September at us$ 170.2 million, down 4 % compared with September 2012. Casino revenue in Louisiana dropped 9 % from a year ago, winning us$ 182.2 million in September.
The Louisiana Gaming Control Board reported the decline was nearly statewide and across all types of casinos. The only exception was the Isle of Capri casino in Lake Charles, which won 3.4 more than last year, according to a report by Associated Press.
