Portugal announces legalisation of online gambling

(Portugal).-The Portuguese Government has announced it is to legalise online gambling in the country in an effort to generate greater tax revenues. According to the DLApiper.com website, the government will work over the next three months towards creating a new working group to discuss online gambling in Portugal and the European Union.

The study by the group will propose regulatory measures to open the Portuguese online gambling market.

Official terms and the extent of the study and legalisation process are yet to be disclosed.
